Puri Temple Reform Commission submits first interim report to Odisha Government

Bhubaneswar, Apr 21: The Justice Bimal Prasad Das has given instructions for stringent action against those responsible sevayats and others who have tried to disrupt the rights of devotees especially women. The Secretary of the Commission named BP Parija submitted the commission’s first interim report to the State Law minister, Arun Sahoo in which it has given suggestions as to what measures need to be initiated to punish the responsible sevayats for their unruly behaviour with the devotees. It is a 1000 pages report. Measures have been suggested to both the district administration and the police for the temple and its rituals to run smooth, they are providing of quick reaction teams, security to combat any terrorist attack, widening of roads, law and order, fire safety measures.

Previously the panel had sat on July 23, 2016 due to the attack on the Puri Collector, Aravind Agarwal and also due to the delay in performing of rituals of Lord Jagannath during the Niladri Bije on July 27, 2016. 12,791 suggestions having 11,094 affidavits, 1551 statements and emails flowed in.
