Mumbai: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra has been granted bail. Raj Kundra, who was jailed for two months after being arrested in connection with the making of a pornographic film, has been granted bail. A Mumbai court today granted bail to businessman Raj Kundra and asked him to pay a bond of Rs 50,000.
Raj’s IT chief, Ryan Thorpe, was also granted bail by the Metropolitan Magistrates’ Court. Both Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe were arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch in July this year for making and distributing pornographic films.
Notably, the case first came to limelight in February this year during a search operation on a bungalow in Mumbai’s Mud Island region. Officials learned that pornographic films were being shot inside Bungalow. Umesh Kamat, an aide to Kundra, was later arrested in connection with the incident. Post to his arrest in July, Kundra’s name surfaced. Earlier, the Crime Branch had filed a 1467-page supplementary chargesheet against Raj, Ryan and two others.
