Kabul: The Ministry of Women’s Affairs in Kabul has issued a ban on the entry of women workers into the ministry, by Taliban. Only male employees are allowed into the ministry, a ministry official said.
According to reports, it was witnessed that women were not being allowed to enter the ministry premises.
Twenty years later, after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, experts thought that Afghan women would face an uncertain future under the Taliban regime. Strictly presenting the “Islamic law”, the Taliban, who ruled accordingly, ordered women to be safe at their homes.
However, at the first press conference since taking over Kabul last month, the Taliban promised the public that the Taliban was committed to giving women their rights under Islamic law.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the Taliban was committed to giving women rights based on Islam. Women can work in health and other fields as needed. There will be no discrimination against women.
However, the Taliban did not keep its promise after coming to power. The government, which announced the Taliban leadership cabinet, earlier this month, did not include any women.
