Bhubaneswar, Aug 30: Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped (VRCH), Bhubaneswar under Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment, DGE and National Association for the Blind (NAB), Odisha State Branch jointly organised 2nd & Final round of state level MISS INDIA contest for visually impaired in the campus of VRCH located at Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar.
During the programme, out of 14 participants who were selected during the 1st Audition from Odisha in the age group of 18-30 years, 10 blind girls have participated in today’s event. 2 totally blind, Miss Jhumuri Biswal & Miss Snehaprabha Lenka and 2 low vision girls, Miss Rasmita Jena & Miss Sandhyarani Patra have been selected in 2nd & final round held on August 29 at VRCH, Bhubaneswar by the expert independent jury. The shortlisted 4 girls will be sent for first round of contest to be held in Mumbai along with nominated 30 participants from other states in the month of September 2016 and during the event, distinguished Judges will be shortlisting 12 girls.
The top 12 finalists will be once again invited to Mumbai during October-November 2016 and will be imparted 15 days of training by a Choreographer and also a Personality Development Trainer. Final event will be held, where 12 girls will be put through rounds of Question – Answers, Talent show, Ramp Walk and will be asked to present their ambition in life in the presence of Celebrities and eminent Citizen Judges in January 2017. During the event, Mrs. Pravati Mishra (Retd. Assistant Director, AYJNIHH), Mrs. Namrata Chadha (Social Activist & Ex-President-All India Women’s Blind Association) Mrs. Sandhya Patnaik (Director, NIFD), Mr, Saswat Joshi (Odishi Dancer) were the Jury members. Ms. Tapu Mishra (Singer) was the Chief Guest for the event. The said event was supported by NIFD, MAADHYAM, We for Women’s Rights and Mr. Keshab Chandra Pradhan, Life Member, NAB-India.
During today’s event, Mr. Prafulla Kumar Rout, Vice-President, NAB India, Mumbai, Dr. Prafulla Chandra Mohapatra, President, Shri Ajay Samal, General Secretary for National Association for the Blind, Odisha State Branch, were witnessed.
